The AMSOIL BMK21 Universal Single-Remote Bypass System adds high-efficiency bypass filtration to an engine while retaining the existing full-flow oil filter in its original location. It provides a compact and flexible way to add AMSOIL bypass filtration where relocating the full-flow filter is unnecessary or installation space is limited.

Adds High-Efficiency Bypass Filtration

A conventional full-flow oil filter must allow the engine's entire oil supply to pass through with minimal restriction. Bypass filtration works differently, continuously diverting a small portion of the oil through a much more efficient filter before returning the filtered oil to the engine's lubrication system.

Used alongside the existing full-flow filter, an AMSOIL Ea Bypass Oil Filter can remove extremely fine contaminants that conventional full-flow filtration cannot efficiently capture.

Retains the Factory Full-Flow Filter

Unlike a dual-remote system, the BMK21 does not relocate the engine's full-flow oil filter. The original full-flow filter remains installed in its normal position while the BMK21 provides a separate remote mount for the bypass filter.

This makes the BMK21 particularly useful where there is sufficient room for a remote bypass filter but limited space for a larger dual-filter assembly.

Universal Installation

The BMK21 is a universal system rather than a vehicle-specific kit. Pressurised engine oil must be supplied to the bypass system and the filtered oil must then be returned to the engine or oil sump using an appropriate installation method for the application.

Cleaner Oil and Increased System Capacity

Bypass filtration continually removes fine contamination while the engine operates. Installing the system also increases total engine oil capacity, providing additional filtration capacity and helping improve oil cooling.

Features

  • Adds high-efficiency bypass filtration while retaining the existing full-flow oil filter.
  • Compact single-remote design requires less mounting space than a dual-remote system.
  • Continuously removes fine contaminants that conventional full-flow filtration cannot efficiently capture.
  • Helps remove fine soot contamination from engine oil.
  • Increases total filtration capacity and engine oil capacity.
  • Universal design allows installation on a wide range of suitable engines and equipment.
  • Remote filter location can provide convenient access for bypass filter servicing.

Choosing a Bypass Filter

The BMK21 can be used with different AMSOIL Ea Bypass Oil Filter sizes according to engine oil capacity, available installation space and required filtration capacity.

  • EABP90: suitable for single-filter applications with crankcase capacities up to approximately 14.2 litres.
  • EABP100: suitable for single-filter applications with crankcase capacities up to approximately 17 litres.
  • EABP110: suitable for single-filter applications with crankcase capacities up to approximately 22.7 litres.

Bypass filters may be used on larger-capacity sumps but may require more frequent replacement. Filter selection should also consider available mounting space.

Single-Remote or Dual-Remote?

Choose a single-remote system such as the BMK21 when you want to retain the engine's existing full-flow filter in its original location and add a separate bypass filter.

Consider a dual-remote system such as the BMK23 when relocating the full-flow filter and mounting the full-flow and bypass filters together is more suitable for the installation.

Installation Considerations

The BMK21 is a universal system and installation requirements vary between applications. The filter assembly should be mounted to a strong structure, protected from road or off-road damage and positioned away from exhaust heat, moving components and other potential sources of damage.

Hose routing and the methods used to supply and return engine oil must be appropriate for the particular engine and installation.
