Which AMSOIL Maintenance Product Do I Need?

Cleaning Before Maintenance

Cleaning is often the first step in effective maintenance. Oil, grease, brake residue, dirt and accumulated deposits can make inspection difficult and contaminate components during servicing.

AMSOIL Brake & Parts Cleaner provides fast cleaning for compatible brake and mechanical components where residue-free cleaning is required. AMSOIL Engine Degreaser targets accumulated grease, oil and grime on engines and equipment, while AMSOIL Heavy-Duty Degreaser provides a stronger cleaning option for demanding maintenance applications.

Choose the cleaner according to the contamination and surface being cleaned rather than assuming that the strongest cleaner is automatically the best product for every job.

Power Foam Carburettor & Induction System Cleaner

AMSOIL Power Foam is designed for cleaning deposits from compatible carburettor and induction-system components. Deposits in these areas can interfere with airflow, throttle operation and fuel-system performance.

Power Foam is a specialised maintenance cleaner rather than a general-purpose exterior degreaser. Use it for the applications described in the product directions rather than substituting it for Engine Degreaser or Brake & Parts Cleaner.

Protecting Metal Against Corrosion

Clean metal surfaces can quickly become vulnerable to moisture and corrosion, particularly on equipment exposed to weather, humidity, road spray or extended periods of storage.

AMSOIL MP Metal Protector provides general-purpose metal protection and lubrication for components that require a protective film.

AMSOIL Heavy Duty Metal Protector is intended where a more durable protective coating is required, making it particularly useful for equipment, tools and metal components exposed to harsher environments or storage conditions.

The appropriate product depends on whether the application requires lighter general-purpose protection or a heavier-duty corrosion barrier.

Chain Lube

AMSOIL Chain Lube provides dedicated lubrication for compatible chain applications where the lubricant must penetrate moving components and remain in place during operation.

Chains operate through repeated metal-to-metal articulation while exposed to contamination and the surrounding environment. A dedicated chain lubricant is therefore preferable to relying on a general-purpose penetrating spray as the primary lubricant.

Silicone Spray

AMSOIL Silicone Spray is a versatile maintenance product for compatible rubber, plastic and metal components requiring lubrication or protection without the characteristics of a conventional grease or heavy oil.

Its usefulness across a wide range of small maintenance jobs makes it a practical workshop, garage and equipment-service product. Always check product directions and material compatibility before applying it to specialised surfaces.

Synthetic Air Tool Oil

Pneumatic tools rely on a continuous supply of clean, appropriate lubricant to protect internal components operating at high speed.

AMSOIL Synthetic Air Tool Oil is formulated specifically for pneumatic equipment, providing lubrication for air motors and internal tool components. It should be used according to the tool manufacturer's lubrication requirements rather than substituting an unrelated engine or hydraulic oil solely because its viscosity appears similar.

Engine Fogging Oil and Equipment Storage

Engines that remain unused for extended periods face a different lubrication problem from engines in regular service. Oil can drain away from internal surfaces while condensation and humidity can promote corrosion.

AMSOIL Engine Fogging Oil is designed to provide protective lubrication to internal engine components during storage. It is particularly relevant to seasonal equipment such as motorcycles, marine engines, powersports vehicles, classic vehicles and small engines that may sit unused for months at a time.

Fogging oil is part of the storage process rather than a replacement for the engine's normal operating lubricant.

Engine Assembly Lube

A newly assembled engine can experience one of its most critical lubrication periods during initial cranking and start-up, before normal oil pressure and circulation have been fully established.

AMSOIL Engine Assembly Lube is applied during engine assembly to provide a protective lubricant film on critical components during this period.

Assembly lube is intended for engine building and reassembly rather than routine engine lubrication. It complements the correct engine oil and proper engine-building procedures; it does not replace them.

Bar & Chain Oil

AMSOIL Bar & Chain Oil provides specialised lubrication for chainsaw bars and chains. These components operate with continuous sliding contact and require a lubricant capable of remaining on the chain while it circulates around the bar at high speed.

Bar and chain oil is a consumable external lubricant and performs a fundamentally different job from the two-stroke or four-stroke engine oil used inside the chainsaw's engine.

Firearm Cleaning, Lubrication and Protection

AMSOIL also offers dedicated products for firearm maintenance. AMSOIL Firearm Cleaner is used during cleaning, while AMSOIL Firearm Lubricant & Protectant provides lubrication and corrosion protection for compatible components following cleaning.

These products perform different stages of the maintenance process: cleaning removes contamination and residue, while subsequent lubrication and protection help maintain moving and exposed metal components.

AMSOIL Oil Change Kits

For selected motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs, AMSOIL offers application-specific Oil Change Kits that package the principal products required for a routine oil service into a convenient kit.

Use the Product Designed for the Job

Many maintenance products can appear interchangeable at first glance. A spray lubricant, corrosion protectant, degreaser and parts cleaner may all live on the same workshop shelf, but they perform very different jobs.
