BUILD IT.
From bare parts to first start, a fresh engine needs the right protection at every stage.
A performance engine can spend weeks or months being machined, assembled and prepared before it ever reaches operating temperature. During that time, freshly machined surfaces need protection from corrosion, critical components need lubrication during assembly, and the completed engine needs the right oil for its first start and initial break-in. AMSOIL offers dedicated products for each stage of the build.
Protect Bare Metal Before Assembly
Freshly machined engine parts can be vulnerable to rust and corrosion while they are stored, transported or waiting for final assembly. Internal engine surfaces may also sit exposed for long periods while a project comes together.
AMSOIL Engine Fogging Oil helps leave a protective oil film on metal surfaces during storage, while AMSOIL Metal Protector can provide additional corrosion protection for suitable components and parts.

Protect Critical Components During Assembly
A freshly assembled engine does not have immediate oil pressure the moment the starter turns. Cam lobes, lifters, bearings and other heavily loaded components need protection during assembly and through the first moments of operation.
AMSOIL Engine Assembly Lube is formulated to cling to parts, helping provide a protective lubricant film while the engine is assembled, stored and prepared for its first start.
Why Use Assembly Lube?
Give a Fresh Engine the Right Start
The first start, initial dyno session and early running period are critical to a newly built or rebuilt engine. Piston rings need to seat correctly while cams, bearings and other components begin operating under real load for the first time.
AMSOIL Break-In Oil is formulated specifically for newly built and rebuilt engines, providing high levels of anti-wear protection while promoting efficient piston-ring seating during the break-in period.
Learn About Engine Break-In OilThree Stages. Three Different Jobs.
Building an engine is not one lubrication problem. Storage, assembly and initial running place different demands on lubricants, which is why each stage benefits from a product designed specifically for the job.
01
PROTECT IT
Fogging Oil / Metal ProtectorHelp protect exposed and freshly machined metal surfaces while engine parts wait for assembly.
02
ASSEMBLE IT
Engine Assembly LubeKeep a protective lubricant film on critical parts before normal engine oil pressure is established.
03
BREAK IT IN
Break-In OilProtect a fresh engine while helping piston rings seat correctly during its first operating period.
Once the Engine Is Broken In
After the initial break-in period, move to an engine oil suited to the finished engine, its clearances, intended use and operating conditions. Whether the finished build is destined for regular street use, weekend cruising or competition, choose the lubricant around how the engine will actually be used.
