AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow is formulated for a broad range of diesel fuels, including biodiesel and #1 and #2 ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD). Its concentrated formula helps combat diesel fuel gelling in cold weather, improving low-temperature operability and engine reliability.

Reduces the Need for #1 Diesel Fuel

Using #1 diesel fuel is one traditional solution to cold-weather diesel fuel problems. While #1 diesel fuel has an advantage in low-temperature operability, its energy content is approximately 95% that of #2 diesel fuel, potentially reducing fuel economy and horsepower. It also generally costs more at the pump.

AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow minimises the need to blend standard #2 diesel fuel with #1 diesel fuel, helping maintain fuel economy and normal engine operation.

Helps Prevent Diesel Fuel Gelling

As temperatures drop, wax naturally present in diesel fuel begins to crystallise. The temperature at which wax crystals begin forming is known as the cloud point. As these crystals grow, they can clog fuel filters and restrict fuel delivery, potentially preventing the engine from starting.

While some lower-quality diesel fuels may form wax crystals at temperatures as high as 4°C (40°F), many fuels have a cloud point near 0°C (32°F). The temperature at which wax crystals restrict fuel flow through the filter is known as the cold filter-plugging point (CFPP).

AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow lowers the CFPP by up to 22°C (40°F) in ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel, helping maintain fuel flow in extremely cold conditions.

Advanced Wax Anti-Settling Technology

AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow incorporates wax anti-settling additives designed to modify wax crystals and significantly reduce their size. Smaller crystals are less likely to settle and can pass through fuel filters more effectively, improving low-temperature operability.

This technology helps prevent wax accumulation during storage and reduces the risk of fuel filter blockage in cold weather.

Key Benefits

  • Lowers the cold filter-plugging point (CFPP) by up to 22°C (40°F).
  • Enhances engine reliability in cold temperatures.
  • Helps prevent diesel fuel gelling in cold weather.
  • Improves low-temperature engine startability.
  • Helps prevent wax settling during storage.
  • Inhibits fuel filter icing.
  • Suitable for diesel fuels, including biodiesel.
  • Helps reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Alcohol-free formulation.

Applications

AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow is formulated to improve diesel fuel flow in low-temperature conditions, helping prevent wax-related fuel filter blockage and maintain reliable fuel delivery.

Suitable for use with diesel fuels, heating oils and kerosene.

Directions and Recommendations

Add AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow to the fuel tank before filling. The additive must be introduced while the fuel temperature is above its cloud point, before wax crystals begin forming.

Important: Diesel Cold Flow is a preventative treatment. It will not reverse fuel gelling or dissolve wax crystals that have already formed.

Do not store Diesel Cold Flow at temperatures below -18°C (0°F).

AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow can also be used alongside AMSOIL Cetane Boost and AMSOIL Diesel Injector Clean.

Which AMSOIL Fuel Additive Should You Use?

Not all fuel additives do the same job. Some clean injectors and remove deposits, others improve fuel lubricity, increase cetane or octane, stabilise stored fuel or protect against diesel gelling. Discover the differences between AMSOIL's petrol and diesel additives and find the right treatment for your application.
